Subscription Ecommerce Growth That Keeps Subscribers Longer
Subscription ecommerce only works when subscribers stay long enough to cover what it cost to win them. We help subscribe-and-save and subscription box brands design better offers, onboard new subscribers and reduce churn. Every change is judged on retained revenue, not sign-ups alone.

Subscription models we work with
Replenishment subscriptions cover products people run out of, such as coffee, supplements, pet food or skincare. The goal is to match delivery timing to real use. Too fast and boxes pile up, which leads to cancellations.
Curated boxes send a new mix each cycle. They depend on surprise and perceived value, so content and unboxing matter more. Membership models charge for access, such as member pricing or early drops. Each model churns for different reasons, so each needs a different plan.
Subscription marketing services we provide
We cover the full path from first offer to renewal.
- Offer design – First-order discounts, free gifts, flexible frequency and prepaid plans, tested against margin and churn, not only conversion.
- Product page and checkout – Clear subscribe options, delivery frequency, price per unit and terms shown before payment.
- Onboarding – Messages before the first and second box that set expectations and show how to skip, swap or change timing.
- Cancel flow – Options to pause, skip, change frequency or swap products, offered fairly before a subscriber cancels.
- Failed payment recovery – Card update reminders and retry timing that recover revenue from expired or declined cards.
- Win-back – Messages and offers for past subscribers, timed to when they are most likely to return.
The numbers we track
Subscription marketing lives or dies on a few numbers. Monthly churn, split into active cancels and failed payments. Retention by cohort at the third and sixth order. Average subscriber lifetime value and how many months it takes to earn back acquisition cost.
We pull these from your subscription platform, such as Recharge, Skio, Loop, Stay AI or Shopify Subscriptions. We then tie them to the channel and offer that brought each subscriber in. A cheap first box can bring in buyers who leave after one order, so we compare offers by retained revenue.
This builds on our ecommerce retention marketing work, with extra focus on billing and renewal.
Staying within auto-renewal laws
Subscriptions in the US are covered by the federal Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act, known as ROSCA. It requires clear disclosure of the terms before billing, the customer's express consent and a simple way to cancel. Many states, including California, have their own automatic renewal laws with added rules on disclosures, reminders and online cancellation.
We write offers and checkout copy that state the price, frequency and renewal terms plainly. Cancel flows can offer a pause or a swap, but they never hide the cancel option. Your legal counsel should approve final terms, since the rules differ by state and change over time.
Pricing and how we work
Step 1: We audit your subscription data, offers and flows. Step 2: We agree on the biggest churn drivers and a 90-day plan. Step 3: We build and test changes one at a time, so each result is clear. Step 4: Monthly reviews track churn and cohort retention.
You get a clear price in your free proposal, after we look at your goals. Cost depends on subscriber count, the number of plans and whether we also run acquisition. See our Kay Properties case study.
We will not promise a set churn rate. Product quality and delivery reliability drive churn as much as marketing does. See all our ecommerce marketing services.

FAQ
Subscription Ecommerce Services: questions
It works best for products people use up on a regular schedule or that benefit from regular discovery. If customers buy once a year or less, a subscription may feel like a burden. We look at your reorder data before recommending it.
Sometimes, but a large first-box discount can attract people who cancel right away. We test offers against retention at the third order, not only sign-ups. A smaller discount with a free gift often keeps more subscribers.
We work with Recharge, Skio, Loop, Stay AI and Shopify Subscriptions, plus the email and SMS tools connected to them. If you are choosing a platform, we compare them against your catalog and plans.
We give subscribers real choices, such as skipping, pausing or changing frequency, before they cancel. Cancelling stays simple and visible. Customers who feel trapped often leave bad reviews or dispute charges, which costs more than the lost subscription.
Platform fees and ad spend are paid separately. The final price depends on scope, which we agree on in writing.
