Fashion Branding Agencies Compared: How We Build Apparel

Labels

When you compare fashion branding agencies, look past the mood boards to the labels, tags and line sheets. Apparel brands live or die on details that shoppers touch. A logo has to work as an embroidered patch, a woven label, a screen print and a tiny social avatar. We design the whole system, from the name to the poly mailer.

What a brand needs beyond a logo

Fashion shoppers buy into a point of view. They follow a label on Instagram and TikTok, watch for drops and judge quality from photos before they ever touch a garment. The brand has to signal who it is for and what it stands for, in seconds.

That takes more than a mark. You need a clear position, such as streetwear, sustainable basics, occasionwear or technical outdoor gear. You need a voice for product names and captions, a photography style and a set of physical pieces that make the garment feel finished.

Wholesale adds another audience. Store buyers look at your line sheet, your lookbook and your showroom setup. They want to see a brand that will sell through on their floor.

Naming a label in a crowded trademark class

Clothing is one of the most crowded trademark classes at the US Patent and Trademark Office. Clothing, footwear and headwear sit in International Class 25, and many short, catchy names are already taken. A name you love may block your growth if someone else holds it.

Our naming process starts with a wide list of options, then screens them for domains, social handles and obvious conflicts. We hand a short list to your trademark attorney for formal clearance. It is far cheaper to change a name before your first production run than after.

We also plan the naming system for collections, product lines and collaborations, so each drop has a clear place in the brand.

Labels, tags and the rules on what they must say

Garment labels in the US are regulated. Under FTC rules, most textile and wool products need labels showing fiber content and country of origin. Labels must also identify the maker or dealer, often through a registered RN number. The FTC Care Labeling Rule also requires care instructions on most apparel.

We design labels and tags that meet those rules and still look like your brand. Our packaging design team prepares files your label maker can produce.

  • Main woven label – Your mark in a woven or printed label, sized for necklines and waistbands.
  • Care and content label – Fiber content, origin, RN and care symbols laid out clearly.
  • Hang tags – Tags with price, size and a short story, plus a string or pin style that suits the garment.
  • Packaging – Poly mailers, boxes, tissue, stickers and inserts for direct orders.
  • Trims and hardware – Artwork for zipper pulls, buttons, patches and debossed leather tags.

Line sheets, lookbooks and drop graphics

Each season or drop needs fresh content that still looks like you. We build templates so your team can produce it quickly.

For wholesale, we design line sheets with product photos, style numbers, colors, sizes and wholesale prices. Lookbooks show the collection styled, for buyers and press. For direct sales, we design launch graphics, email headers and social templates for each drop.

We also set a logo design system that holds up in production. That means one-color, embroidery and small-size versions, and guidance for placement on garments. For your store, see our fashion web design services.

Fashion branding services and pricing

You get a clear price in your free proposal, after we look at your goals.

Cost depends on the number of product categories, label and tag types, and how much seasonal content you need. Labels selling both direct and wholesale usually need more pieces.

We will not promise sell-through, press or viral drops. We will give you a brand that looks finished on every garment and every screen. For growth after launch, see our fashion ecommerce marketing services, or our full branding agency page.

FAQ

Fashion Branding Agencies: questions

  • Usually positioning, a name if needed, a logo system, labels and tags, packaging and templates for seasonal content. Many also design line sheets and lookbooks. Garment design itself is a separate job.

  • No. We design the brand and the graphics that go on and around the garments, such as prints, labels and tags. Your designer or product developer handles the garments themselves.

  • Ask your trademark attorney, but clearance before launch is wise in a crowded class like clothing. We screen names early so your attorney can review a short list. Filing is legal work and not part of our service.

  • It depends on the number of product categories and pieces you need. A starter identity with a woven label and hang tag costs far less than a full program with packaging and lookbook templates. We quote in writing before we start.

  • We write the photography brief and art direct shoots when needed. We work with your photographer or recommend one. You own the brand files once the project is paid, and photo rights follow your photographer's license.
